Asahikawa City, located almost in the center of the Kamikawa region and nestled amidst the majestic Daisetsuzan mountain range, is Hokkaido's second-largest city and is characterized by its distinct four seasons and cool climate. It is famous for Asahiyama Zoo, known nationwide for its behavioral exhibits, delicious local cuisine such as Asahikawa ramen and Etanbetsu soba, and Asahikawa furniture, which is highly regarded for its excellent functionality and design. In addition, the city hosts many events, including the gourmet event "Kita no Megumi Tabemaruche" in September, the Asahikawa Winter Festival in February with its impressive snow sculptures, and the Vasaloppet Japan international cross-country skiing and walking skiing competition in March, attracting more than 5 million tourists from both Japan and abroad annually. 2020 marks the 130th anniversary of the founding of Asahikawa City, and in July, the Fighters baseball team will host an official game at the city's Starhin Stadium. Come and visit Asahikawa City, which is full of gourmet food and sightseeing spots!
