2025 activity report

1st Let's Learn with Sugiya Vol.1 (2025.07.31)

The popular series "Learn with Sugiya," which began last year, is now in its second year. This year, we will once again be holding various learning events both inside and outside the stadium together with official ambassador Kenji Sugiya.

For the first visit of this season, we followed on from last year and visited Maruko Eco Factory Kamikami Mawari no Mori Factory. Inside the facility, we observed the process of recycling waste. In order to reduce carbon dioxide emissions, they are focusing on turning clean plastic waste into solid fuel and using it as thermal energy instead of fossil fuels.

They viewed garbage as a resource and devised ways to add value to things that were no longer needed.
In the afternoon, we returned to Kamasta and made umbrella charms using plastic bottle caps.
Crush plastic bottle caps into small pieces, mold them into your desired color and shape, and finally heat them with an iron to complete the creation.
A unique charm has been completed.
During the game, children walked around the stands and collected trash.
Throughout the day, we learned the importance of separating our trash and how trash can become a resource.

2nd Let's Learn with Sugiya vol.2 (2025.08.26)

The theme of the second "Learn with Sugiya" event this season is "Learn about food education at Yakiniku Keizan and watch baseball."

This time, we learned about beef distribution and processing at Yakiniku Keizan, a partner of Kamagaya Children's Support Club. Apparently, this restaurant purchases an entire cow and uses every part of it. They also demonstrated how to butcher beef tongue, and Sugitani and the children's eyes lit up, saying that they might never see such an experience again.

In the next "Kimchi Making Experience," the children tried their hand at making their own kimchi by stuffing Gyeongsan's special kimchi base into Chinese cabbage. After they finished, they were given the opportunity to take their creations home, but by making and eating them themselves, the experience deepened their understanding and interest in ingredients.

Finally, we enjoyed lunch, which consisted of Yakiniku Keizan's original beef tongue curry.
While listening to the story that all ingredients, including meat and vegetables, are life and a gift from the earth,
I thought about gratitude for eating.

After returning to Kamasu Stadium, Sugitani gave the children a tour of the facility. The children were fascinated by his stories of his time as a player.
The children then enjoyed a very satisfying day watching the match, with detailed commentary from Sugitani.

Let's Learn with Sugiya Vol.3 (September 13, 2025)

The theme of the third "Learn with Sugiya" event this season is "Local Learning - Kamagaya Pears."

This time, as in last year, we visited Asamien, a pear orchard located about a five-minute drive from Kamasta Stadium.
After arriving, we were first given a detailed explanation about the pear varieties. We were told that the three varieties being harvested this time were "Hosui," "Niitaka," and "Akizuki," and that all of them were ripe for eating now. Thanks to the efforts made by the farmers to select the harvesting timing and varieties more carefully than usual, we were able to enjoy an even more delicious pear harvesting experience than last year.

After returning to Kamasta Stadium, staff from JA Tokatsu Chuo gave us a detailed explanation of how Kamagaya pears are made, as well as the process and attention to detail. In particular, they said that the secret to growing juicy pears is the amount of manual labor involved. We were able to learn about the attention to detail that goes into growing pears.

The much-anticipated "Pear Tasting" event featured eight varieties of pears. Children experienced the differences in taste, firmness, and freshness, and some even tried the pear that suited their taste multiple times, making this year's event a truly memorable one.

2nd Let's Learn with Sugiya vol.2 (2024.05.03)

"Learn with Sugiya vol.2" will be held by Kenji Sugiya, ambassador for the "Kamagaya Children's Support Club," which was launched this season.

Before the match, a training session was held with commentary, including anecdotes about each player.
The content and purpose of the practice was explained to the children in an easy-to-understand manner, and the participating children asked many questions about baseball, creating a lively and interactive time.

Radio calisthenics has also been held since 2012 and has now become a signature event at Kamagaya Stadium.
We welcomed Daisuke Suzuki, a gymnastics instructor who appears on the program "Minna no Taiso" currently airing on NHK General 1, and his assistant Yusuke Sugii as guests, to teach us the correct way to do "Radio Taiso."
At the end of the bottom of the fifth inning, all attendees participated in radio calisthenics.
It was a spectacular sight to see even more lively gymnastics performances than usual spreading across the stadium!

In addition, the kids' area, which opened today, will provide commentary on the matches for elementary school students and younger.
The children listened with shining eyes to the explanation, which was typical of a former professional baseball player, including how players' defensive positions change depending on who is batting.
Sugitani taught the children a lot about how fun baseball is.

We will continue to work with Sugitani and the club's member companies and organizations, as well as the local community, to carry out a variety of activities. We will be reporting on our activities on this website from time to time, so please look forward to it!

Let's Learn with Sugiya Vol.3 (August 22, 2024)

For "Learn with Sugiya Vol. 3," we held a tour that combined a tour of the Kamikami Mawari no Mori factory of Maruyuki Eco Factory Co., Ltd., a company that supports our club, with a match viewing and garbage collection event.

After touring the recycling plant, Maruko Co., Ltd. gave a lecture on environmental conservation and SDGs, and together with Sugitani, we thought about what we can do for the Earth in our daily lives.
The children also gave lively opinions, such as eating everything, buying only what you need, and sorting your trash.

In the afternoon, we returned to Kamasta Stadium to watch the match with commentary from Sugitani, and during the match, the children went around the stands and collected trash, turning it into an event that allowed them to have fun while also putting it into practice.

During the bus ride, Sugitani reminisced about when he first joined the group and submitted his residency card to Kamagaya City Hall, introduced the shops he used to frequent, and the children asked him lots of questions, making for a lively experience from start to finish.

Finally, we would like to introduce Mr. Sugitani's comments.
"It was a time that made me think and learn a lot myself. When it's time to study, they study hard, and when it's time to play, they play to the fullest. I was energized by the elementary school students who worked so hard at everything they did!"

We will continue to work with Sugitani and the club's member companies and organizations, as well as the local community, to carry out a variety of activities. We will be reporting on our activities on this website from time to time, so please look forward to it!

4th Learn with Sugiya Vol. 4 (2024.09.22)

The theme of "Learn with Sugiya Vol. 4" was pears, a local specialty of Kamagaya that are now in season. With the cooperation of JA Tokatsu Chuo, a supporting company of our club, we organized a pear-picking tour.

We visited Asamien, a pear orchard located a five-minute drive from Kamasta Stadium.
There, they learned about the various varieties of pears, and then they immediately started harvesting them. Some children even managed to pick pears as big as their faces.

Back at Kamasta, Mr. Ishii from JA Ukatsu Chuo explained how Kamagaya's delicious pears are grown, and gave us some tips on how to grow them, such as the careful manual work that goes into growing them every day. Mr. Sugitani, who loves Kamagaya pears, was so knowledgeable about them that both the children and Mr. Ishii, who acted as the instructor, were amazed. After that, it was finally time for the much-anticipated "tasting comparison of four types of pears." We learned that different types of pears have different characteristics, such as firmness, taste, and moisture content.

After the match started, as is customary, the kids watched the match in the kids' area with commentary from Sugitani.
It seems that the children had a memorable day, not only experiencing pear picking for the first time, but also watching a game with Sugitani and playing ball.

Finally, we would like to introduce Mr. Sugitani's comments.
"When I was still active, I remember being surprised by how sweet and juicy Kamagaya pears were.
My favorite thing to do after a game was to eat ice-cold pears!!"

Although the 2024 Eastern League official games at Fighters Kamagaya Stadium have concluded, we will continue to work with Sugitani, the club's member companies, and the local community to carry out various activities. We will be reporting on our activities on this website from time to time, so please look forward to it!

Kamasta☆Career Education Activity Report

1st Experiential Learning: Police Work Experience

    Activity report

The Kamagaya Children's Support Club, which was launched in the 2024 season, is now in its second year. This season, we have started a new "career education" program to introduce children to various occupations.

At this event, lecturers from companies, stores, and organizations active in the area around Kamasta will explain their jobs to the children in attendance, as well as provide an opportunity for them to actually experience the work.
We hope that by seeing and hearing about various occupations, the children will deepen their interest and understanding of each occupation and broaden their horizons.

The first memorable event was "Police Work Experience"
We learned about the work of the police to protect people's safety from the people at Kamagaya Police Station, who also help us at Kamasta.
The first part was held in a conference room and consisted of a lecture on the work of the police. In addition to bulletproof vests and handcuffs, we were given demonstrations of tools such as the sasumata (baton), which are rarely seen in real life.
The second part of the program took place in a special venue in the stadium's main square, where children had the chance to try out different jobs. They were given the opportunity to try out police cars, motorcycles, and even a mobile police box (used in times of disaster), as well as a demonstration of fingerprint collection. Games were also incorporated, allowing the children to learn while having fun.

2nd ICT: Creating support slides using a PC

Career Education Vol. 2 "ICT" (May 6, 2025)
We had a lecturer from Crab Garden Kamagaya ICT School, a member company of the Kamagaya Children's Support Club, and the children learned how to use a computer to create designs in PowerPoint.

On the day, the students formed groups of two or three with friends they were meeting for the first time, and together they discussed and created "Fighters support slides" on one computer. The completed slides would be shown on the screens at Kamasu Stadium on game days, so some groups were hesitant to talk at first, but as they worked, they quickly became more open, and each completed a high-quality piece that showed their love for the Fighters.

Of course, the finished works were wonderful, but what impressed me even more was the way the children skillfully communicated with strangers as they worked on the project.
The warm gazes of the families as they looked at their children were also very impressive.

3rd Food Education ~Agriculture & Cherry Tomato Seedling Planting Experience~

Career Education Vol.3 "Food Education" (June 15, 2025)
We learned about food education from the people at JA Tokatsu Chuo, a member company of the Kamagaya Children's Support Club and which also assists in the operation of C.B. Farm.

The first part was held in a conference room, and we were given an overview of agriculture in Chiba Prefecture, the production and background of pears, a specialty of Kamagaya City, Chiba Prefecture, issues such as climate change and an aging population, and an explanation of the "Chiba Production, Chi-Consumption" initiative promoted by JA and Ukatsu Central, rather than the concept of "local production for local consumption."

In the second part, the children planted cherry tomato seedlings at C.B. Farm with "Nashikomadon," the mascot of JA Tokatsu Chuo. They are looking forward to harvesting them during the summer holidays.

4th Experiential Learning: Kindergarten Teacher Experience for a Day

    Career Education Vol.4 "Childcare" (September 27, 2025)
We invited teachers from Michiru Kindergarten, a member of the Kamagaya Children's Support Club, a school corporation run by Senko Gakuen, to learn about childcare with the seven children who participated on the day.

The teachers taught us that kindergarten is a place where children prepare to enter elementary school, and that this preparation is not just about studying, but also about learning various things while playing.

During play time, the children tried making balls out of newspapers. After tearing the newspaper into long, thin strips (play), they put the torn pieces into plastic bags and rolled them up to make balls. It seems that in the process, they will naturally develop the habit of tidying up messy newspapers.

In this way, by using familiar materials in creative ways, the children were able to transform them into playthings and even develop the habit of tidying up. This was truly an opportunity to learn the profound depth of childcare.
