The Hokkaido Nippon-Ham Fighters Supporting children's cafeterias in collaboration with the Fighters Supporters Association A new SC activities (Social contribution project) Kokomi We started this project in Iwanai Town.
Children's cafeterias face challenges such as the difficulty of providing uniform support due to the diverse circumstances of each family, and the lack of transparency regarding the donors and recipients of food donations. Furthermore, their purpose is shifting from addressing social isolation and poverty to creating safe spaces for children.
Therefore, the Fighters, who have support groups in 136 municipalities throughout Hokkaido, will team up with these support groups to provide the support needed in each region, build face-to-face relationships with children's cafeterias, and create safer places for children to go. Through our mediation, we will create an opportunity for the two networks, children's cafeterias and Fighters support groups, to intersect, and this initiative will build a system of "local production and consumption of support" in each region.
On Wednesday, January 15th, as the first installment of "Kokomiito," B☆B participated in an event co-hosted by the Fighters Iwanai Supporters Association and Poppo Shokudo, the only children's cafeteria in Iwanai Town. A total of 52 people, including 26 elementary school students, 15 staff members from the children's cafeteria, and 11 members of the Iwanai Supporters Association, experienced making mochi using a mortar and pestle. They then made mochi pizza and anko mochi with the pounded mochi and enjoyed eating together, fostering interaction among the participants. The Fighters also donated recipes devised by the Nippon Ham Central Research Institute, Nippon Ham products, and the three-part picture book series "Mori no Yakyuu Team Fighters" written by the Fighters Players Association to Poppo Shokudo.
At Kokomiito, we aim to increase opportunities throughout Hokkaido for the two networks—Fighters support groups in each region and children's cafeterias—to intersect.
